Lloyd Jay Morrow, 85, of Stanford, KY passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at home. Born May 7, 1931 in Buena Vista, KY, he was the son of the late Tom and Rinda Morrow, and the widower of the late Carolyn Morrow. He was a member of the United States Army and Air Force where he retired after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Beginning his service in the Army and later transferring to the Air Force after being bayoneted and wounded from shrapnel while in the Army, he became a cook while in the Air Force and on one Thanksgiving dinner he fed 4,500 soldiers. He was a former pastor in the Church of God. Survivors include three sons; Ronnie Morrow of Stanford, KY, Eddie Morrow (Dicey) of Buena Vista, KY, and David Morrow (Jean) of Nicholasville, KY, one daughter; Connie Lane of Lancaster, KY, one sister; Bessie Davis of Louisville, KY, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son; Roy Morrow. A one day service has been scheduled for Friday, March 31, 2017 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Visitation will be from 10am-1pm with funeral service beginning at 1pm with Reverend Brad King officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY with military rites by Caswell Saufley American Legion Post #18. Casket bearers will be: Gary Barker, Michael Lane, Darin Huff, Joey Morrow, Johnny Travillion, and Richard Tudor.
