Betty Sue Ray, 88, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 at home. Born December 5, 1929 in Knoxville, TN to the late Joseph and Oma Cunningham Lawson, she was the widow of the Carl L. Ray. She was a retired employee of Continental Can of Baltimore, MD, and was a member of Stanford Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Darrell Jeffery Ray (Patsy) of Baltimore, MD, and Dennis Ray (Shelia) of Lincoln County, KY; one daughter, Linda Bender of Lincoln County, KY, one sister, Sylvia “Jean” Lawson (Walter) of Knoxville, TN, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy L. Ray; five brothers, Joseph Lawson, Jr., Charles Lawson, Warren Lawson, Hugh Lee Lawson, Paul “Butch” Lawson; and three sisters, Margie Jones, Zylphia “Mick” Wallace, and Thelma Gaddis. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6-9pm at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Funeral service will be 2pm Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Stanford Baptist Church with Bro. John Penick officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. Casket bearers will be: Charles Bender, Eric Bender, Jacob Pike, Josh Ray, Ryan Francois, and Jacob Ray.
