Charles Edwin Johnson, 69, of Wilmore, KY (formerly of Paris, TN) passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Thomson- Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY. Born October 20, 1949 in Morgan County, Kentucky to the late Paul Coffman and Lula Rose Coffey (Charles Douglas Johnson his adoptive step-father), he was a veteran having served two tours in Vietnam, and was a member of both the United States Army and United States Marines. Later in life he worked in sales and was a member of Ohavay Zion Conservative Congregation in Lexington, KY. Survivors include his former wife, Kathie Hilt of Nicholasville, KY; one son; Jason Edward Johnson of Nicholasville, KY; two daughters, Tammie Beth Rogers (Robert H.) of Wilmore, KY, and Jan Marie Dowdy (Damon) of Paris, TN; one brother, James H. Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Betty J. Mackey of Paris, TN; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Martinez. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 9am at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Wilmore, KY with Rabbi H.D. Uriel Smith and Reverend Robert H. Rogers officiating and full military honors provided by American Legion Post #18. Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford is in charge of the arrangements.
