Edith Marie Mobley James, 93, of Stanford, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born on August 3, 1926 in McKinney, Kentucky to the late Carlton Emmett Mobley and Vasca May Elliott Mobley. She worked for Ben Franklin Store in Stanford for approximately 20 years. After the dime store she later worked for General Dollar and Wal-Mart in Stanford. Edith attended McKinney Baptist and later became a member of Stanford Baptist Church.
Survivors include, two sons, Larry James (Sandra) of Newburgh, IN and Jimmy C. James (Donna) of State College, PA; four grandchildren, Rebecca James, Joshua James, Kelly Sadley and Jessica Rush; and six great-grandchildren, Anna Sadley, Emily Beebe, Lucas Rush, Ella Rush, Korbin James and Tallulah James.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A one-day service has been scheduled for Friday, September 27, 2019. Visitation will from 11 to 1 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Funeral will begin at 1 p.m. with Dr. Michael James officiating the service. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.
Pallbearers are Eddie Carter, John Hester, David Horseman, Danny Harmon, Alfred H. Pence and Cabel Francis, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Billy Moberly.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers may be donated to Stanford Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Association (Greater Kentucky & Southern Indiana Chapter).
