Gerald Jay “G.J.” Scharbrough, 47, of Stanford, KY passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at home. Born January 22, 1972 in Lexington, KY to Rose Yocum Scharbrough of Stanford, KY and the late Charles Scharbrough, he worked as a farmer for most of his life, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. In addition to his mother, he is survived by five brothers, Edward Humphrey (Alberta), James Humphrey (Connie), both of Moreland, KY, Larry Humphrey (Carolyn), of Russell Springs, KY, Lonnie Scharbrough of Lawrenceburg, KY, and Preston Scharbrough of Stanford, KY; one sister, Deborah Scharbrough of Stanford, KY; thirteen nieces and nephews; and fourteen great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Scharbrough. A one day service has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Visitation will be from 3-5pm with funeral service beginning at 5pm. Mark Sims will officiate the service and burial will follow at Scharbrough Cemetery in Stanford, KY. Casket bearers will be: Lil Charles Scharbrough, Timothy Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Ricky Foley, Ricky Foley, Jr., Daniel Scharbrough, Luke Humphrey, and Jalee Humphrey.
