Lida Jenkins Hobbs

June 14, 1918 ~ February 20, 2018 (age 99)

Lida Jenkins Hobbs, 99, of Stanford, KY passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at home. She was born June 14, 1918 in Elizabethtown, KY to the late Leslie Jenkins and Carrie Hagan Jenkins and was the widow of the late William Ransom Hobbs. She was a retired employee of the Lincoln County School District where she was former secretary for both Stanford High School and Stanford Elementary School. She was a Floral Hall and Fair Board Member and was recognized in 2017 as one of the longest continuous members of the Homemakers Extension in the State of Kentucky. She was also a member of Stanford Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Hobbs Cox of Stanford, KY; one granddaughter, Holly Hobbs of Sneads Ferry, NC; three special great-grandchildren, Logan Cox, Ryan Cox, and Leighanne Apke; their mother, Lynn Cox; a special friend, Ella Mae Curlis; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Allen B. Hobbs; and four brothers, Calvin Jenkins, Rodney Jenkins, Kean Jenkins, and Bethel Jenkins. Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2018 from 5-8pm at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverends John Penick, Richard Skidmore, and Jeremy Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Hardin Memorial Cemetery in Elizabethtown, KY. Casket bearers are: Ryan Cox, Barrett Curlis, Brandon Curlis, Tate Curlis, Reed Curlis, Austin Cole, and Charlie Cole. Honorary bearers will be: Stuart Underwood, Bill Frazier, Rod Bates, Stanford Baptist Church Women's 3 Sunday School Class, and the Lincoln County Extension Homemakers Group. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the Stanford Baptist Church Choir Fund and/or the Lida Hobbs Memorial Scholarship Fund for graduates of Stanford Elementary School.
