Pauline Smith Thompson, 94, of Crab Orchard, KY passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Stanford Health & Rehab Center in Stanford. Born May 21, 1925 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky to the late Elias Jackson Smith and Lucy Ausmus Smith, she was the widow of the late Carl Thompson, and a retired employee of Palm Beach, Inc. She was a babysitter for many of the children throughout Lincoln County over the years who knew her as “mamaw, and she was a lifelong member of Drake’s Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, David Thompson (Barbree) of Versailles, KY; one daughter, Sharon Murphy (Ray) of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Michelle Holman, Heather Britton, Alison Grigsby, and Sarah Schork; four great-grandchildren, Jarrett, Mikalla, Austin, and Cole; two step-grandchildren, Beverley and Kimberley; two step-great-grandchildren, Amanda and Heather; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Smith, and E.J. Smith; and three sisters, Agnes Howard, Eleanor Burke, and Nancy Bradley. A one day service has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm with funeral service beginning at 1pm. Burial will follow at Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster, KY.
