Thomas “Tommy” Bryan Hastie, 54, of Danville, KY passed away after a long illness on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born June 12, 1963 in Wytheville, VA to the late William and Jane Gammon Hastie, he was a veteran of the United States Army where he served six years before becoming disabled, and later in life worked as a route driver for several companies including RC Cola, Cintas, and Rainbow Cleaners. He was an avid athlete, mainly golf, and was known best in Lincoln County as “Long Driver”. He was also a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Gabi Hastie of Danville, KY; one son, Benjamin Thomas Hastie (Kristin) of Richmond, KY; a daughter, Jenny Hastie McGuffey (Casey) of Danville, KY; one brother, Billy Hastie (Kathy) of Stanford, KY; a sister, Janie Hastie of Stanford, KY; two grandchildren, Aubrey Jane McGuffey and Shelby Taylor McGuffey, and was expecting his third grandchild; his stepmother, Doris Hastie; his nephews, Evan & Seth Hastie; an aunt, Ruby Davis (Richard Cooper) of Lexington, KY; two great-nephews; one great-niece; several cousins; and several in-laws in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Visitation will be from 4-8pm with funeral service beginning at 8pm. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
