Obituary

Brenda Jane McQueary, 75, of Niles, Michigan (formerly of Stanford, KY) passed away on April 25, 2022 in Niles, Michigan. Born on January 20th 1947 at home on Naylors Ridge in Stanford Kentucky, Hattie Lee (Leigh) and Claude Naylor, Sr. welcomed their eighth child. A beautiful daughter, who they named Brenda Jane Naylor. The doctor was given a ham as payment for delivering her. She was gifted with the most beautiful singing voice and as a child, she and her sisters would sing in the choir at Blue Lick Baptist Church, where she was also baptized. As mama got older she never lost her love for singing, and could be found singing a tune around the house or enjoying a night of karaoke with her family. In 1965 she graduated from Memorial High School in Waynesburg.  Right after graduation she left for Niles, Michigan and was married to Lawrence Lynn on June 5, 1965. During their eleven years of marriage, she gave birth to three children; Tammy Jane, Lawrence Dale and Shannon James. On February 29th 1980, in Stanford, Kentucky, she married Glenn McQueary. It was always a joke that they only had an anniversary every four years. With her marriage to Glenn, she gained another wonderful child, Freddie Glenn McQueary, who she loved as her own flesh and blood. Mama worked for Stanford House Nursing Home as a CNA, a job that she loved so much, she worked there for 23 years. She always loved her patients and cared for them as if they were family. Many of the family members of mama's patients would tell her that she had a special place waiting for her in Heaven for the care and love she gave, and I know they are correct. If you ever came to mama's house hungry, you left full. If you came full, you left fuller! She was notorious for immediately offering you something to eat and would absolutely refuse to take no for an answer. Some of the best cooking in all of Lincoln County took place right in her kitchen. In addition to pretty much anything she cooked, she was quite famous with family and friends for her apple cakes and jam cakes. Some would even pay her for them and if you were lucky enough, you would get one for your birthday. She always made sure to make all four of us kids any dinner, dessert and anything else we asked for on our birthdays. No matter where life took mama, she always held Kentucky close to her heart. She could often be found wearing something with the UK logo on it. She always did her best to never miss a UK basketball game and always made sure to cheer them on, by shouting, "Let's Go Cat's!".

We will all miss her love, laughter, hugs and everything in-between. We are blessed to call her our mama, Tammy (Karl) Brodd of South Bend, Indiana and Shannon (Melissa) Lynn of Niles, Michigan. Daughters-in-law Priscilla Lynn of Louisville, Kentucky and Sharon McQueary of Stanford, Kentucky. Her grandchildren, who she deeply loved and adored; Larry (Wendy) Melton, Kaitlyn (Corbin) Penley, Shannon (Nadia) Lynn, Shellby Lynn, Anthony Lynn, Zoe Lynn, Kayla McQueary, Kasey McQueary, Brittny Carpenter and Casey Gordon. And her ten great-grandchildren; Scarlett Vega, Matthew Melton, Joshua Davis, Wayne Penley, Preston Penley, Aubrey Means, Bobby Means, Aristotle Camden, Alikzandria Camden and Arabella Ellis.

Her sisters; Sue (Ronnie) Cook of Stanford, Kentucky and Angie (Everett) Caudill of Louisville, Kentucky. What a reunion she must be having in Heaven right now! I can picture our brothers Lawrence Lynn Jr. and Freddie McQueary wrapping their arms around her as she holds tight to her grandson Cody James Lynn and her great grandson, Damion Lynn Melton, as other children in the family, who God took home before they were born, run to meet her. Two of which, her own children. How wonderful it must be to finally meet them and get to hold them forever in Heaven. The pure joy of seeing her parents and all of her brothers and sisters; Earl Naylor, Thelma Taylor, Johanna Adkins, Claude Naylor Jr., Harold Naylor, James Naylor and Carl Naylor. Until we can all be together again mama, we will hold you in our hearts. We love you always, in all ways.
