Dorothy Severance Wilder, 81, of Stanford, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born on September 30, 1941 in Wyoming, OH to the late Homer Severance and Opal Denny Williams. Dorothy was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for many years and served at the Church nursery for over 30 years. She was a Teacher’s Aid for Stanford Elementary and substitute teacher for many years in the Lincoln County School System. She enjoyed volunteering and helping people and children. She loved kids and Jesus more than anything.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Wilder of Stanford; one son, Shanon Jason Wilder of Stanford; one brother, Walter Severance of West Chester, OH; four sisters, Carolyn Tussey, Betty Sallee, Brenda Hunt and Terri Bertram; three grandchildren, Tabitha Whitehead, Samantha Davis and Marayiah Phelps; five great-grandchildren, Tucker, Gatlynn, Alexis, Cashton and McKinley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Severance and Opal Denny Williams; two sons, Shaun Markum Wilder and Shane Eric Wilder; four brothers, James Albert Severance, Billy Ray Severance, Danny Eugene Severance and Dallas Severance; and an infant sister, Linda Lou Severance.
A one-day service has been scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church in Waynesburg, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. David Conrades officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
