Ewona Deloris Walls Robbins (80) – Stanford, KY
She was our first love, our first best friend, but most important, she is our mom. On August 16, 2021, we stood on holy ground and held her hand as her spirit was set free. Mom now celebrates the rewards of a life well lived.
Mom was born December 6, 1940, to the late John “Bud” and Nicie Walls Lay in Geneva area of Lincoln County, KY. Mom was born in a time when life was simple, a time when your brothers went off to war, a time when you chased fireflies from the porch and a time when you played in the creek with your best friend, who remains a best friend to this day.
Mom and dad were married over 62 years ago at Fairview Baptist Church and remain a member of Fairview. We always joked with Mom that she played the role of a Baptist mom very well and could serve up guilt with the best of them. We always knew that guilt was so full of love and always wanting the best for her boys.
Ewona had many titles thru life and retired from LaFayette Engineering. Her favorite titles included those of baby sister, wife, mom, and mamaw. Ewona is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert ‘Bob’ Robbins. They shared an old fashion love story of commitment, of trust, and unquestionable devotion to each other. Mom and Dad built a home with a foundation based on love, family, and faith. Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Beth) Robbins of Forkland, KY, with Beth and mom sharing a special bond together with all their boys, and Tim Robbins of Bradenton, FL.
Her favorite title was that of Mamaw. She was so proud of her grandsons, Brandon (Allie) Robbins of Gravel Switch, KY, Blake (Raven) Robbins of Forkland, KY and Brad (Brittany) Robbins of Forkland, KY and seven great-grandchildren, Jake, Aubrey, Parker, Keegan, Bo, Bryce, and Beckett. Additional survivors include a sister-n-law, Mary Ann Walls Bowman, a brother-n-law, Danny Coffman, a niece Beth (Bill) Taylor and nephews Keith (Iva) Coffman, Scott Coffman, and Charlie Walls.
In addition to her parents, family members who preceded mom in death and welcomed their baby sister home include two sisters and six brothers: Elmer Walls, Junior Walls, Mary Francis Walls, Joseph T Walls, Lois Walls Collett, Marvin Walls, John Walls, and Charles Walls. Mom was also proceeded in death by a nephew, John Mark Walls, a niece, Ewona Jane Walls and two sister-n-laws, Willene (Charles) Walls and Sandy Coffman (Danny).
