James Ray Long, 65, of Danville, KY passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born March 18, 1955 in Muncie, IN to the late Harold Gipson Long and Shirley Ruth Cloyd, he was a retired employee of Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington where he worked as an ICU nurse. James travelled extensively both inside and outside of the United States, loved to crochet in his spare time, and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his husband, Francis Boldrick; one brother, Mike Long (Pamela Gail); one sister, Pamela Ann Vanhook (Eugene) all of Danville, KY; two nieces, Tiffany Long and Amber Middleton; and three nephews, Chad Vanhook, Chuck Vanhook, and Bret Berry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Angie Berry; a neice, Summer Long; and one nephew, Shawn Bastin. A one day service has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm with funeral service beginning at 1pm with Reverend Lewis Walter officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville, KY.
