July 6, 1956 ~ December 3, 2020 (age 64)

Obituary

James M Browning (Jim), 64, of Garrard County and formerly of Rockcastle County  passed away on  December 3rd,  2020 at Baptist Health Lexington, Kentucky in the care of Hospice.  He was born on July 6, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio.  He was the son of the late James L Browning and Barbara Hansel-Browning.

Jim had a career in the printing industry before he became a full-time farmer in 2003.  He made many life-long friends in the printing industry in Ohio.  He loved his farmland and was happiest when he spent time beautifying it.  Jim enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.  He was heartfelt about his beliefs in God, country, and the constitution.  Jim loved a good political discussion and was passionate about his conservative views.  He loved old television shows and movies especially John Wayne and James Bond.  Jim loved old country music songs and always had them playing on his farm truck radio with a cold “dew” in his cooler.  In 2015, he was inducted into the Rockcastle County High School Football Hall of Fame.  But his most important role  was being a Papaw nanny to his granddaughter “Mae” as they shared a love for Kentucky basketball.

Jim is survived by his wife Janice Holbrook- Browning and two children James Adam Browning of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mary Beth Browning-Hawthorne of Alabaster, AL along with five grandchildren Marisa Bukky, Avery, Benjamin, and Olivia Browning and Jon David Hawthorne.  He is also survived by two sisters Rebecca Browning-Sharp (Michael) of Miamisburg, Ohio and Carolyn Browning of Mt Vernon and one brother Walter Browning (Rita) of Garrard County.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Barry L Browning.

In lieu of flowers, Janice requests that gifts of gratitude be sent to the staff of the Cancer Clinic and the Infusion Center at the Cancer Center at Baptist Health Lexington. Baptist Health Cancer Care Center, 1700 Nicholasville, Rd. #1100 Lexington, KY 40503.

Due to COVID19 restrictions, a graveside service for family members will be held at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford on December 7th with Leonard Harrison officiating.  Jim will be laid to rest next to his parents James and Barbara Hansel-Browning.
