Louise Brown, 92, of Stanford, KY passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, KY. Born on May 30, 1928 in Lincoln County to the late Alfred Simpson, Sr. and Ritter Simpson. She was a custodian for most of her life, where she worked at Lincoln County National Bank. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in the Boneyville Community of Stanford, KY where she was the former President of the Adult Choir and former Church Treasurer and Clerk. Louise will always be remembered for telling everyone, “I bet I can still outrun you!”.
Survivors include one son, Gary Brown (Pat) of Stanford, KY; two daughters, Sara Givens of Stanford, KY and Barthenia Brown of Stanford, KY; one sister, Irene Gooch (Rev. Earnest) of Stanford, KY; six grandchildren, Eric Givens, Cornelius Stevenson, Darryl Brown, Glenn Hester, Jr., Dionne Givens and Kelvin Givens; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous of great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special great-grandchild, D’Nai Givens; and also her extended Holtzclaw family, Betty, Kim, Kay and Michelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Simpson, Sr. and Ritter Simpson; four brothers, Willie Simpson, Shirley Simpson, Boney Sylvester Simpson and Alfred Simpson, Jr.; two sisters, Annie Howard and Rosanna Hocker; and a son-in-law, Shirley Givens.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Funeral Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Bishop Joseph Shea Brown, Rev. Reginald Pullum and Elder Jerry Wilkinson will be officiating and special remarks by Elder Robert Coulter, Jr. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.
Due to Covid-19 rules and regulations, all individuals attending services will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Pallbearers are Eric Givens, Cornelius Stevenson, Darryl Brown, Glenn Hester, Jr., Kelvin Givens, Lorenzo Suter, Daniel Gooch, Glenn Gooch, and James Edward Logan.
Honorary Pallbearers are John T. Gooch, James Edward Logan, Bobby Hocker, Clarence Gooch, John Routt, George Penman Trudy Gooch and Linda Goodloe.
