Melvin L. Jones

Melvin L. Jones, 79, of Stanford, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Born on November 30, 1940 in Pulaski County, KY to the late Roosevelt Jones and Martha Anna Elizabeth Petrey Jones. He was a farmer who loved to fish and hunt. Melvin was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include two brothers, Jackie Jones (Bertie) and Carl Jones (Mary Belle); three sisters, Mary E. Goens Jones (Russell), Christeen Yocum and Justeen Tucker (Maurice); and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt Jones and Martha Anna Elizabeth Petrey Jones; four brothers, Norman Edward Jones, Orn V. Jones, William Edward Jones and Marvin Thomas Jones; and three sisters, Irene Jones, Freda Jones and Lorine Dowell.

A one-day service has been scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Funeral will begin at 1 p.m. with Bro. Gary King officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.

Pallbearers are James Coleman, Aaron Goens, Nathan Goens, Samuel Goens, Randy Goens, Jackie L. Jones, Tyler Jones and Ashton Manier. Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Jones and Chuck Jones.
