Ricky D. Elmore, 66, of Nashville, TN (formerly of McKinney, KY) passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 after a hard fought battle with ALS aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving daughters and granddogs. Born on July 23, 1956 in Cincinnati, OH, he was the beloved son of the late Benjamin Franklin “Frank” and Beatrice Taylor Elmore.
He earned his livelihood working in Commercial Construction. He was an avid motorcyclist. His kindness, humor and cooking will be greatly missed. He was formerly a member of Waynesburg Pentecostal Church.
Ricky married his high school sweetheart, Susan Austin, and became the father of Tonya Fletcher and Erica Austin; and the grandfather of Lily Fletcher and Emma Fletcher.
He later married, Bonnie Johnson. He spent over twenty years as a bonus dad and grandad to her children, Penny Thompson Benedict and Nathan Thompson; and grandchildren, Kayla Thompson, Cody Wilcher, Kamryn Thompson and Skyler Thompson.
He was doting brother of Rita Shannon, Debby Owens and Timmy Elmore; and uncle of Garrett Elmore, Tina Elmore, Larry Elmore, Teresa Coffman Reed, Brian Coffman, Scott Kennedy, April Owens Salyers, Terrie Dunn, Tiffany Elmore Hargis, and Tonya Elmore Mattingly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beatrice Elmore; one brother, Gary Elmore and one nephew, Kenny M. Coffman.
His family is eternally grateful for the care and support Ricky received from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Alive Hospice and the ALS Association of Tennessee.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Spurlin Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Billy Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Peck Cemetery.
